Day 1 : Auckland to Paihia Bay of Islands
You'll head North across the Auckland Harbour bridge. Northland is a region with a abundance of marine life, subtropical climate and pristine beaches, but is also a region with historical significance.
About half way between Whangarei and Paihia, at Whakapara, we recommend you take the turn off for Helena Bay/Whangaruru. The journey to Paihia will be a little bit longer as the road winds its way along the coastline, but this stretch of coastline is absolutely magnificent as you approach the Bay of Islands. Turquoise, azure waters, spectacular rocky formations and island views, this will get you into relax mode fairly quickly.
When you arrive in the Bay of Islands, stop in the picturesque sea side town Russell, the first European settlement in New Zealand, before taking the ferry to Opua for the final short stretch into Paihia, which will be your base to explore the Bay of Islands.
Take the afternoon off to explore the town, or take a cruise to the Hole in the Rock at the tip of Cape Brett. A visit to the Waitangi Treaty grounds should also be on your list, as it's the country's most important historic site where in 1840 New Zealand's founding document was signed: the Treaty of Waitangi.

Day 2 Paihia - Cape Reinga
You will be amazed on your way north to Cape Reinga today by the beauty of New Zealand's beaches. We highly recommend you take your time today, slow down and visit some isolated towns and beaches such as Matauri Bay, Taupo Bay, Matai Bay with their stunning subtropical beaches.
Ninety Mile Beach starts in Ahipara and ends at Scott Point, about 5 kms from Cape Reinga. Marvel the spectacular sunsets here and have a go at bodyboarding the massive sanddunes.
As you approach Cape Reinga, the landscape changes dramatically and you'll really start to feel at the edge of the world here. Visit the lighthouse but also take some time to walk down to one of the beaches, which will give you a true Robinson Crusoe feeling!

Day 3 Cape Reinga - Paihia
On you way back to the Bay of Islands today, make a detour to visit the Waipoua Forest, home of the tallest and oldest Kauri tree in the world.

Day 4 Paihia - Auckland
On your way back to Auckland today, stop for a coffee at the famous Hunterwasser toilets in Kawakawa, before taking another detour, this time to the Tutukaka Coast. The Tutukaka Coast is home to the Poor Knights Islands, world renowned for it's world class diving and marine life. Just north of Matapouri, a beautiful walk brings you to Whale Bay. Sandy bay is another beautiful spot and has great surfing.

- Where the date of cancellation is a date 30 to 45 days before the start of the tour the cancellation fee shall be 25% of the contract price
- Where the date of cancellation is a date 7 to 30 days before the start of the tour the cancellation fee shall be 50% of the contract price
- Where the date of cancellation is a date 7 days or less before the start of the tour the cancellation fee shall be 100% of the contract price
