Mt Aspiring National Park Adventures
You will be introduced to the Mount Aspiring National Park and Maori beliefs about the mountains and the waterways that flow from them. You will learn of all of these aspects while enjoying our totally unique wilderness experience which incorporates Mount Aspiring, hanging glaciers, cultural and environmental information, and the exhilaration of a jet boat ride and the peace of a wilderness walk.
Group Size : Minimum 2 - 3 people and maximum 20.
Duration : 4 Hours, and full day for the 4WD +Jet Boat+Walk.
Departure Location : 99 Ardmore Street, Wanaka.
Departure Time : October - May: 10.00am & 1.00pm and June - September: 11.00am.
Departure dates : All year. Except 25/26 December, and from mid May to mid June.
Transportation : Shuttle departs from 99 Ardmore Street, outside of the Wanaka i-SITE. Central accommodation pick-up available.

Jet Boat and Wilderness Walk
Flowing from Glaciers, the pristine waters of the Matukituki River are perfect to experience river boating on the longest and most spectacular jet boat tour in New Zealand. Travel at speed over shallow braids, drift into turns and yes… experience exciting spins, stopping in deep pools to breathe in the magic of the landscape & hear stories of this land from your local guides. Deep in the mountains & off the beaten track, enjoy a 50-minute nature walk through moss covered forest, waterfalls and glacier fed streams. Walk in awe beneath Avalanche Glacier when conditions permit or into McGills Creek to explore one of the most beautiful and serene forest walks. Hear the stories of this unique ice carved landscape and see photo opportunities not to miss. The only jet boat company to see Mount Aspiring and Glaciers.
Jet Boat & Walk + Glacier Heli Combo
This is an incredible opportunity to fly by helicopter direct from the jet boat located deep in the mountains, on a thrilling up-close look at the glaciers. On this scenic glacier helicopter flight see hanging valleys where glaciers once lay and waterfalls that cascade from under giants of ice into the streams and rivers that feed into the Matukituki River. Land on the spectacular Isobel Glacier and disembark the helicopter for photos before flying back to join the guided wilderness walk and return leg of the Jet Boat Journey. Flight time with Aspiring Helicopters approx. 25 minutes includes a Glacier landing.
4WD+Jet Boat +Walk
This is a great opportunity to spend more time exploring the spectacular glacial formed Matukituki Valley. Join the 10am Jet Boat & Wilderness Walk, on arriving back at West Wanaka Bridge enjoy a picnic lunch on the river bank before meeting your local guides from Ridgeline Adventures for a Highlights Safari; a 4WD Landrover adventure travelling the private back roads of West Wanaka Station, a 30000-acre deer farm steeped in history and bordering the majestic snow-capped peaks and glaciers of Mt Aspiring National Park. See sheep, alpacas and deer on this working high country farm, climb above Lake Wanaka to make a well-earned stop for refreshments at the exclusive “alpine café” returning to Wanaka approx. 4.00pm.
Jet Boat+ Walk+Heli+4 WD
Travel past towering mountains and hanging glaciers,waterfalls and Lord of the Rings locations on the pristine waters of the Matukituki River. Fly by helicopter from Jet Boat around Avalanche and Rob Roy glacier:see hanging valleys where glaciers once lay and waterfalls that explode from beneath giants of ice. Experience a high altitude glacier landing for photos on the Isobel Glacier before returning to the Jet boat and joing 30 minutes walk into real New Zealand wilderness. After a picnic lunch on the river Bank meet Ridgeline adventure guides for a Highlights 4WD Landrover adventure.
Casual outdoor clothing:
Summer: shorts and a couple of light layers. Bring a sweater or light jacket.
Winter: dress warmly, layers and a jacket, bring hat and gloves if you have them. If you are here for skiing or snowboarding, wear your ski gear.
Footwear: trainers are fine; during summer strong sandals are also suitable.
Life jacket & wet weather gear.
Warm hats, gloves and lunch (for the full day tour).
