How do I book my journey?

Explore the tour packages on our website and choose a tour that attracts your interest. Each of our tours has a detailed itinerary description and explains what's included and what to expect on the tour. Once you've made a choice, you can make an enquiry. There will be a link provided on each tour description page. In case you are customizing your tour, complete for customized tour enquiry form which will ask you about your interests and wishes. Based on your requirements we will then prepare a tour proposal and send it back to you for your consideration. 

After you've received our travel proposal and informed us you want to book your journey, we suggest you contact us via email or phone first. The same travel consultant you have been dealing with up to this point will go through the travel program with you again and complete the booking form with you. You will then receive a booking confirmation from us via email with the next steps.

We will require the following details from you and your fellow travelers:

  •  The exact first name and last name as is shown in your passport 
  •  Your date(s) of birth 
  • Address of the person making the booking
  • Phone numbers 
  • Emergency contact details

After your journey is booked

When we've booked all parts of your tour we will send you a confirmation email together will all the details of your trip, including departure dates and information you need for activities. You will also receive a detailed breakdown of the cost of your journey.

We'll then ask you to pay a 10% deposit or a minimum of $250 either by credit card or bank transfer. There is a small (2.5%) charge for credit card payments, so if you can it's probably best to pay via secure bank transfer. All prices on our website are in New Zealand dollar, so ensure you are paying in this currency. The balance must then be paid at latest 45 days before the tour starts. 


Making amendments to your tour

When you book, try to be as complete as you can. Making amendments is generally possible, but it also depends on when you make the amendment. Making amendments too close to the departure date may not be possible, as accommodation does fill up during the busy months. You should have a bit more time for amendments to activities, unless you have planned a Great Walk. Hut accommodation is completely booked out months ahead and it is sometimes even difficult to get in for the season due to the limited number of people allowed on the track at any given day. We do not allow for changes anymore after the full balance of your tour has been paid (latest 45 days before departure).

Final payment

After you've paid your deposit we will send you the final balance of the journey, which is due at least 45 days prior to your departure date. Also now you may choose to pay via credit card or secure bank transfer. Terms and conditions apply for settling the balance, so please read these carefully here.

Upon arrival

When you arrive in New Zealand your travel wallet will be waiting for you at the accommodation you're staying the first night.

Your travel wallet will include:

  • Travel vouchers
  • Accommodation vouchers
  • Activity vouchers
  • Hut passes for trekking tours if included in tour
  • A list of useful phone numbers
  • Detailed itinerary map
